Currently Available Scholarships
Approximately 200 scholarships are awarded each year from funds administered by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. Some of these scholarships are targeted for applicants meeting very specific criteria.
Are you a graduating high school senior?
If you are a graduating high school senior, scholarship applications are available between late January and late February each year through high school counselors in our region.

If you have graduated from high school and are looking to further your education, scroll down to view currently available scholarships. The largest share of scholarship applications for students in college are available between late January and late February each year.
We are pleased to announce that application forms are available for the following scholarships with specific eligibility criteria.
Joe & Dorothy Conger “Handy-One” Scholarship for vocational skills
Applicant must be going into the second year of studying building and/or home maintenance vocational skills at North Platte Community College, reside in the North Platte region and demonstrate moderate to substantial financial need. Amount $1,200
Application is open for this scholarship until it is awarded.
John Russell Applegate Scholarships for Teachers
Applicants must be residents of one of the following counties in West Central Nebraska: Custer, Dawson, Frontier, Hayes, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins and Thomas. Applicants must be either: a) a current education major at college junior or senior level pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree in Education, or b) a current teacher pursuing additional postsecondary education leading to an endorsement or a Master’s Degree in Education with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Reading, Mathematics, Science, Career Technical Education, Special Education, Speech Pathology, School Psychologist, World Languages, Language Arts, Music or Middle School endorsement. Scholarship recipients may apply again for another scholarship in the future for possible selection from among all applicants. Typically around 9 scholarships with a maximum of $3,000 each will be awarded each spring.

John and Diane Poehling Scholarship Application Form
Two $3,000 scholarships at any Nebraska college or university will be awarded this winter from the John & Diane Poehling Educational Endowment Fund. Applicants must have a background in hunting, fishing, wildlife conservation and/or wildlife education and be a college sophomore or higher at the time of application. In addition, applicants must have a ‘B’ grade average or better. Anyone residing in Nebraska or attending college in Nebraska is eligible to apply.
The deadline for applications is November 2, 2020.
